San Marcos has experienced rapid growth over the past 15 years. Our city leaders have done a decent job in balancing the city's growth and respecting the natural elements of San Marcos that make it such a desirable place to live. There have been some hiccups of course (i.e. the big gash in Double Peak and a few others) but overall San Marcos has a good growth plan.
Now H.G. Fenton has submitted plans to develop the property bordered by Craven (to the west), the Discovery Meadows subdivision (to the south), Creekside Marketplace (think Lowes, In-N-Out - to the north) and a variety of private properties (to the east).
The goal of SaveDiscovery.org is not to stop development of this property, but rather to help guide the development process so that the city can achieve its goals, the developers can achieve theirs and existing nearby residents' quality of life remains good.
To that end, it is important that those affected by this development be informed of the proposed plans and have a chance to have their voices heard by the city council before any approvals are granted.
This website will provide information on the plans, events and decisions being made regarding H. G. Fenton's request to change the "Specific Plan" for this part of the city. It will serve as a centerpoint for information and discussion for all concerned.
